A row involving up to a dozen people broke out at the Omiya Bar on Patrick Street, Tullamore, shortly before 10pm on 26 October 2023, during which a garda was told to swear at the officer. John Brady, a 32-year-old man from Carrickaboy, Co. Cavan, was charged with threatening behaviour and being intoxicated in public. He pleaded guilty to both public order charges at Tullamore District Court in January 2024. The judge ordered a €500 payment to Tullamore Lions Club and struck out both charges.
