  John Boyle, 37, of Dungloe, pleaded guilty at Dungloe District Court on 15 January 2023 to a charge of threatening to kill or cause serious harm after leaving a phone message to his cousin Frank Earley in Kinlough on 5 June 2022 in which he said he would 'slice him' and hoped Earley's sick mother would 'rot in hell'. The message, read out in court by Garda Inspector Seamus McGonigle, also called Earley a 'ginger p---k'. Boyle admitted in a subsequent interview that it was his voice on the phone and the contents were accurate. The case was adjourned to 9 May for a probation report and victim impact statement.
