On 30 November 2022, a shotgun was allegedly discharged twice in Cloughleigh, Ennis, near a housing estate and primary school, with a hooded man seen running from a car with a weapon. No injuries were reported. James Keenan, 53, of John Paul Avenue, Ennis, was charged in June 2026 with five offences including unlawfully discharging a shotgun and recklessly discharging a firearm in the direction of Joe Joyce. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody. In October 2026, Judge Adrian Harris returned him for trial to Ennis Circuit Court.
