A married couple, Jixu Wang, 35, and Ye Wang, 34, both Chinese, were arrested on 12 November 2024 following a raid on their apartment in Blackrock, Dublin, as part of an international money laundering investigation. The probe, co-ordinated by Europol with cooperation from police in Germany, Spain, Switzerland and the UK, alleges €21 million was transferred through online bank and cryptocurrency accounts linked to the couple. They were charged with possessing crime proceeds under the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Act 2010 and denied bail at Dublin District Court on 16 November 2024. On 28 February 2025, they were further charged with facilitating organised crime and the DPP directed trial on indictment in the Circuit Court, with both remaining in custody.
