On 19 February 2022 a car driven by Jim Connors collided with a taxi at a traffic-light junction in Cherrywood, Dublin, seriously injuring a passenger in the taxi, and the driver of the car ran from the scene. Connors was arrested in June 2022 after CCTV footage from a local shop was used to identify him, and he later pleaded guilty to five charges, including dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm, on his first court date. On 14 October 2024 at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, Judge Martina Baxter imposed a sentence of four and a half years, suspended in full on condition that he keep the peace and be of good behaviour for five years, and he must engage with the Probation Service for two years.
