Jeffrey Kelly, a 33-year-old Limerick man, was sentenced at Ennis Circuit Court to 18 months' imprisonment with the last 14 months suspended for assault causing harm after biting Garda Michael O'Neill on the hand in the early hours of 5 March 2024. The incident occurred outside an address at Cnoc na Scoile on Kilrush Road, Ennis, while Kelly was resisting arrest. Kelly was refused bail at Ennis District Court and the High Court before pleading guilty before Judge Francis Comerford.
