  Jason McDonnell (34), a Longford man, has been charged with illegal waste dumping under Section 10 of the Waste Management Act at his home, a housing estate in the middle of Longford town. A Waste Enforcement Officer first visited the home on 22 October 2020 and ordered the waste removed, and the prosecution told the court that the matter has come before it on several occasions since 2021. The defence said a full skip of rubbish was removed in March 2024, which it described as a marginal improvement. At a hearing reported on 2 May 2024, Judge Bernadette Owens remanded him on bail until 17 May 2024 to clear the property, warning that a custodial sentence will follow if it is not cleaned up.
