  Jason Connolly of Co Kildare is accused of punching a person twice in the side of the head and pulling hair at a city centre hotel in Kilkenny on 18 December 2025. He was charged with assault causing harm. At a recent sitting of Kilkenny District Court, Judge Geraldine Carthy accepted jurisdiction and ordered disclosure to be made. The matter was adjourned to 10 November 2026 for a plea to be entered or a hearing date to be set.

  On 5 January 2022 at Carriganore, Graignamanagh, County Kilkenny, Jason Connolly took a woman's vehicle, punched her with a closed fist while the car was moving, forced her out of the driver's side window and left her on the side of the road. Gardaí were called by the woman, who made a 999 call at about 9pm, and Mr Connolly was highly intoxicated when gardaí spoke to him. He pleaded guilty at Kilkenny Circuit Court to assault causing harm, unauthorised taking of a vehicle, drink driving and driving without insurance, and Judge Martin sentenced him to two years imprisonment for assault causing harm, with concurrent terms and driving bans on the other charges. The latest development, reported on 22 December 2023, is that the matter was adjourned to May with all penalties adjourned to that day, and the judge is considering suspending the sentence in full if conditions are met over six months.
