On 23 September 2018, Jason Byrne, then 17, threatened a male social worker with a knife at a Tusla facility at Roseville, Newbridge, Co Kildare, after becoming aggressive and demanding money and food. Byrne, a man now 21 from Roseville Court, Newbridge, pleaded guilty at Naas Circuit Criminal Court on 20 October 2020 and was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment with the final six months suspended for nine months.
