  On 17 August 2019, Jason Aquino smashed a pint glass into a man's face at Pygmalion nightclub on South Anne Street in Dublin, after a verbal disagreement between two groups. The victim suffered serious eye injuries, was transferred to the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital, and continues to receive treatment for seriously affected eyesight. Aquino was arrested, and at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court he pleaded guilty to assault causing harm, violent disorder and production of an article. On 14 November 2025 he was sentenced to four years with the final 12 months suspended, reported as jailed for three years, and the court directed that €20,000 be offered to the victim within three months.
