On 27 February 2017, a black Mercedes was intercepted at junction 5 on the M8 at Urlingford, Kilkenny, after the driver had been observed in a drugs transaction. Five vacuum-sealed bags of cannabis weighing 2.4kg and valued at €49,892 were found in a juicer box in the boot. Jaroslaw Liwinski, a 41-year-old Polish man, was arrested and later pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis under section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. He was sentenced to three years' imprisonment at Kilkenny Circuit Court on 28 March 2022, backdated to 22 March 2022.
