  Michael Gaine, a 56-year-old Irish sheep farmer, disappeared from his farm at Carrig East, Kenmare, Co Kerry on 20 March 2025, and his wife Janice Gaine reported him missing the following day. The case was upgraded from a missing person investigation to a homicide probe on 29 April 2025, and his dismembered remains were found in a slurry tank on his property on 16 May 2025. Michael Kelley, a 54-year-old American man from Maine who had been living and working on Gaine's farm, was first arrested on 18 May 2025 and released without charge the following day. He was re-arrested on 24 February 2026, charged with murder on 25 February 2026, and sent forward for trial at the Central Criminal Court, where a trial date of 11 January 2027 was set.
