Jana Samalova, 39, a woman, was prosecuted for breaching the Control of Dogs Act after her dog, a cross between a pointer and a US bulldog, allegedly attacked a smaller dog at Canal Bank, Sallins on 19 December 2020. The injured party, a woman with a two-year-old child, claimed €1,096 in vet treatment costs. Sgt Dave Hanrahan presented the prosecution case at Naas District Court on 23 March 2023. Judge Desmond Zaidan noted that banning the owner from keeping a pet could mean the dog would have to be put down. The matter was adjourned.
