On the afternoon of April 11, 2024, on Railway Street in Dublin 1, Jamiu Giwa (29), a man from Louth, collided with a plain clothes female garda while attempting to evade a garda drugs unit. The garda sustained a concussion, a fracture to her shoulder and a knee injury. Giwa was arrested after being followed by other gardaí, and he later pleaded guilty to assault causing harm at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
