Margaret Saville, 38, approached Jamie Murray at the Bridge Inn in Dungloe, Co Donegal, in the early hours of 7 September 2019 and pushed a glass towards Murray's chin with such force that it broke, causing five lacerations. Saville said she approached Murray because she had had an affair with her husband. Saville was arrested on 24 September 2019 and in July 2021 Judge Aylmer adjourned the case for a year, ordering €5,000 in court. In July 2022, Judge Aylmer reduced the sentence from three years to two years and suspended it in full, citing mental health issues and a positive probation report, and ordered Saville to be of good behaviour and abstain from alcohol for 12 months.
