On 16 February 2024, gardaí stopped a grey Ford Focus on the Old Navan Road in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, and found a loaded 9mm Makarov pistol wrapped in cling film in a plastic bag, with a nine-year-old child as a passenger. A woman, Sarah Jane Byrne, 37, and a man, Jamie Moss, 22, were arrested, and follow-up searches at two addresses found a Tokarev submachine gun, a sawn-off Beretta shotgun, and 27 rounds of ammunition hidden under the stairs of Byrne's house. Gardaí believe the gun was being moved ahead of a potential hit on associates of Jason Hennessy Snr. Both were charged, appeared at Blanchardstown District Court on 19 February 2024, and were granted bail on strict conditions. Byrne was later sentenced at the Special Criminal Court to four years for the pistol and four years and four months, with 12 months suspended, for the shotgun and submachine gun, both running concurrently.
