  On March 7, 2025, Clayton Duncan, a 48-year-old man from Carrigans, allegedly failed to observe a Transit van driven by James Sharkey at Coxtown Crossroads, Carrigans, and collided with it. Sharkey reported neck and back pain after the crash. Duncan was charged with careless driving, driving without insurance, driving without a licence, and failing to produce insurance and his licence after Garda Kearney made several attempts to contact him for a caution statement. Judge Emile Daly convicted the absent Duncan at Letterkenny District Court. He was fined €150 for careless driving, €150 for driving without insurance, and €250 for driving without a licence, and was disqualified from driving on each charge.

  James Sharkey, a 36-year-old man from Annagry in west Donegal, was detected driving at 171km/h on a 100km/h road at Coolboy Big, Letterkenny, at 11.31pm on 3 April 2023. Gardaí were conducting a speed checkpoint at the time. Sharkey was charged with dangerous driving and appeared at Letterkenny District Court in July 2023, where the judge refused to accept a plea to careless driving because of the speed involved. The case was adjourned to 16 October to be listed before a visiting judge.
