James O'Reilly, 91, a retired painter and decorator and former sports coach, pleaded guilty at Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court on 5 February 2025 to sexually assaulting four young girls at St Mary's College sports hall in Arklow between 1990 and 1994. He had originally faced nine charges of indecent or sexual assault and attempted sexual assault but was re-arraigned and pleaded guilty to four counts on a full facts basis. The judge allowed him to be publicly named at the victims' request and directed that victim impact statements be prepared. O'Reilly was remanded on continuing bail to 29 April to fix a date for sentencing.
