James O'Brien (43) and Martin O'Brien (31), both of Abbeyfeale, County Limerick, induced a woman in her early 80s to pay €4,900 for unnecessary and unsolicited repair work to a Velux window at her home in Limerick City on 9 November 2018. The brothers were charged with fraud under the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act. They pleaded guilty at an arraignment hearing at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court on 23 May 2022 and were remanded on bail. A pre-sentencing hearing is set for 27 July 2022, at which a sum of money is to be paid as compensation to the victim.
