James Kelly (35), of Kennedy Park, Limerick City, was sentenced over thefts of designer handbags from the Brown Thomas store in Limerick City Centre in December 2025. He pleaded guilty in Limerick District Court to taking four handbags worth €900 on December 10 and handbags worth €350 on December 6, and to a Public Order Act charge for being intoxicated on January 13. Judge Carol Anne Coolican imposed sentences of one month and two months for the handbag thefts, as reported on February 23, 2026. The latest development is that he was remanded to appear before Limerick Circuit Court on February 25 over a suspended sentence.
