  James 'Jake' Boles, a 24-year-old man, was convicted of one count of coercive control and five counts of assault causing harm against his then partner, a 22-year-old woman, at two addresses in Ratoath, Co Meath, between January 1st and April 5th, 2019. In January, Judge Orla Crowe at Trim Circuit Court sentenced him to two years' imprisonment, fully suspended. The Court of Appeal later overturned that sentence, finding the trial judge had erred. The latest development is that the Court of Appeal said it would re-sentence Boles to one year in jail.
