  • Cold case review into 1971 Ratoath murders Murder · Co. Meath

Una Lynskey, 19, went missing on 12 October 1971 after getting off a bus near Ratoath, Co Meath, and her body was found in the Dublin Mountains on 10 December 1971. Martin Kerrigan, 19, was abducted in Ratoath on 19 December 1971 and his body was found at Tibradden, Rathfarnham, the following day. Martin Conmey and Dick Donnelly were convicted of Lynskey's manslaughter in 1972, while John Lynskey, James Lynskey and John Gaughan were convicted of Kerrigan's manslaughter; Donnelly's conviction was overturned in 1973 and Conmey's was quashed in 2010 and declared a miscarriage of justice in 2014. The murder of Lynskey remains unsolved, and Garda Commissioner Drew Harris ordered a Serious Crime Review Team to conduct a full review of both killings, with a fresh appeal for information issued on 12 October 2023.
