Jamal Hameed, an Iraqi national aged 62 (one report says 63) of Park Gardens, Hansfield Wood, Dublin, said on 22 December 2025 that he had a bomb in his luggage when officials asked about prohibited items at Terminal 1 of Dublin Airport, causing a false alarm. In April 2026 he pleaded guilty to causing a false alarm at Dublin District Court before Judge Karen Dowling, and sentencing was adjourned to July for a probation report. On 16 July 2026 the judge applied the Probation of Offenders Act, and Hameed was spared jail and a criminal record.
