  On 13 June 2022, a silver BMW was stopped by the Roads Policing Unit on the M1 motorway at Mooremount, Dunleer, after being detected at 157kph. Six kilos of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of over €420,000 were allegedly recovered from the vehicle. Jake Smith, a 23-year-old man, is one of two men charged with unlawful possession of cocaine and having the drug for sale or supply. He was remanded in custody at the vacation sitting of Dundalk District Court, with the file expected to be sent to the DPP within two weeks. He was remanded to appear by video link at Dundalk District Court on 7 September.
