Seven cattle, including a Five Star pedigree Angus bull, four in-calf Aubrac cross cows, and two weanling calves, were stolen from an unoccupied outside farm at Direenauling, near Ballyvourney, Co. Cork, in the early hours of 24 December 2022. The animals belonged to 73-year-old man Jack Corkery, who was keeping 42 animals at the farm near the Cork-Kerry border. The family reported the theft to Gardaí in Macroom, who are investigating and suspect a link to a similar eight-cattle theft at Aughadown near Skibbereen in November 2022. No arrests have been made.
