  • Donegal farmer returned for Circuit Court trial on firearms and drugs charges Firearms and drugs offences · Co. Donegal

    Ivan Peoples, a 46-year-old man from Carrowreagh, Bridgend, Co Donegal, was charged with sixteen offences including possession of a submachine gun, three semi-automatic rifles, a shotgun, ammunition and cannabis worth more than €13,000 for sale or supply, following a property search in September 2024 and a road stop in July 2025. He first appeared at Longford District Court in August 2025 and was remanded on bail, with the case progressing through Buncrana District Court over several adjournments. In February 2026, fourteen weapons charges were added and the DPP consented to the case being sent to the Circuit Court. On 14 May 2026, the Book of Evidence was served at Buncrana District Court and Peoples was returned for trial by judge and jury to Letterkenny Circuit Court, due to start on 19 May 2026, where he was released on continuing bail.
