Three men, originally from Syria, were found in possession of more than €345,000 in cash when Gardaí stopped a taxi on Drumcondra Road in Dublin on 25 July 2024. Anas Altahlh (40), Issa Al Aboud (43) and Mohamad Alsourani (43) had arrived at Dublin Airport three days earlier on a Ryanair flight from Denmark and were due to travel to Istanbul. The men pleaded guilty to possession of the proceeds of criminal conduct and were sentenced on 8 December 2025 at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to three years in custody, backdated to July 2024 when they went into custody.

Three men were arrested on 25 July 2025 after Gardaí seized €345,640 in cash from a taxi in Drumcondra, Dublin 9, as part of a Dublin Crime Response Team operation targeting an organised crime group involved in controlled drugs and money laundering. Mohamed Alsourani, 43, a Syrian man, Anas Altahlh, 40, a Syrian man, and Issa Al Aboud, 43, a man, were charged with possession of proceeds of criminal conduct. The men, who had arrived in Ireland on 22 July, were stopped while on their way to Dublin Airport following confidential information. They appeared before Dublin District Court on 26 July, where Judge Anthony Halpin refused bail, and are due before Cloverhill District Court on 30 July.
