Noel Foran, a 61-year-old man, pleaded guilty to three sample counts of ten sexual assaults of his stepdaughter Irene Cullen, who was aged between six and 13, at their home in Tallaght, Dublin, between March 1991 and March 1998. Cullen, now 38, waived her anonymity after Foran was sentenced to three years at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in July 2023. The sentencing judge imposed 18 months on the first and tenth charge to run consecutively, noting a 50 per cent reduction taking account of delay. The Court of Appeal rejected Foran's appeal on 26 February 2024, confirming the full three-year sentence.
