    A 26-year-old man, Ion Paduret, allegedly entered the home of a Kildare woman, his ex-partner and co-worker, in Kildare town on the evening of 30 August 2022, after an argument earlier that day, and hit her in the face with a closed fist, causing a fractured nose and swelling. He appeared at Naas District Court on 23 February 2023, where a photograph of the victim's injuries was shown in an in-camera session. Judge Desmond Zaidan refused jurisdiction, stating the matter was a minor allegation for summary disposal. The case was adjourned to 18 May 2023 for DPP directions and to 22 June 2023, with bail granted until that date.
