latest first- Man acquitted of murder by reason of insanity in Ratoath Murder · Co. Meath
Ioana Mihaela Pacala, a 30-year-old Romanian woman, was found dead in her bed in a duplex apartment at Riverwalk Court, Ratoath, Co. Meath, on 12 November 2022. Her partner, Andrei Dobra, a Romanian man aged 33 at the time, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder. At the Central Criminal Court in July 2024, Dobra, now 36, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, and two psychiatrists testified he was suffering from a mental disorder at the time of the killing. A jury found Dobra not guilty of murder by reason of insanity, and he was remanded to the National Forensic Mental Health Services Hospital in Portrane.
