On 14 October 2025, Gardaí intercepted a planned cash handover at a car park in Santry, North Dublin, recovering €383,090 in cash, a money counter, and a number of mobile phones as part of Operation Tara. Ukrainian man Ihor Samotos, 32, was seen receiving a box of cash from a third party, while his partner, Ukrainian woman Sabina Kolukhonova, 34, was a passenger in the car. Four people were arrested and four residential premises were searched in North Dublin and Co. Leitrim. Both pleaded guilty to one count of money laundering at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in July 2026, where Samotos was sentenced to five and a half years and Kolukhonova to 20 months, both backdated to their October 2025 custody.
