On 31 July 2022, Idayat Ogbara, a 57-year-old woman, was stopped by the Dundalk Roads Policing Unit on Hoey's Lane, Dundalk, after driving on the wrong side of the road. Gardaí suspected she had given false information at the roadside and found the vehicle to be uninsured, leading to its seizure. She admitted both careless driving and driving without insurance at Dundalk District Court, where she was convicted in February 2023. Judge Gerry Jones fined her €300 for each charge and did not disqualify her from driving.
