latest first- Man sentenced to 10 years for aggravated sexual assault in Dublin Rape
Ibrahim Elghynaoui, a 28-year-old non-Irish man, broke into the apartment of Sarah Grace, a 30-year-old Irish woman, through her bedroom window in Grand Canal Dock, Dublin, on 17 July 2019, strangling and sexually assaulting her while she slept. Gardaí tracked him down shortly after the attack, and he was charged with multiple offences including aggravated sexual assault that caused internal damage. After an 18-month wait for trial, Elghynaoui was sentenced to 10 years in prison in March 2021. Grace, a solicitor, has since spoken publicly about the justice system's treatment of rape survivors and published a book, Ash + Salt, about her experience.
