On 21 April 2021, Ian Gilbert, a 38-year-old man, was stopped while driving in the Hospital area, County Limerick, and a small amount of cocaine was found on his person. Over €200,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis was subsequently discovered concealed in bags at a mobile home in Knockainey, rural County Limerick, along with €1,300 in cash and drugs paraphernalia. Gilbert and Samantha O'Gorman, a 29-year-old woman, both pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and cannabis for sale or supply. At Limerick Circuit Court before Judge Tom O'Donnell, Gilbert was sentenced to three years and six months in prison.
