On 7 April 2017, Ian Doherty, a 24-year-old man, was charged with careless driving and a hit and run offence after allegedly pulling out in front of a woman motorist on Hill Street, Dundalk, causing her car to collide with a house wall. He was also charged with dangerous driving on two separate occasions, including a 2017 incident where his car was recovered in Newry with plates removed and a January 2021 incident on the R174 at Doolargy, Ravensdale. In February 2022, Judge Eirinn McKiernan at Dundalk district court imposed concurrent sentences totalling six months and disqualified him from driving for six years.
