On the evening of 28 May 2020, Ian Carr, aged 33, and his partner were invited to a man in his late 40s's house on Windmill Street, Limerick. A disagreement the next morning led the victim to clear them out, and the victim was stabbed in the right thigh and hit with a sweeping brush by his former partner. Mr Carr and his partner were arrested in an adjoining street, and Mr Carr pleaded guilty to assault and possession of a Swiss army knife. Limerick Circuit Court sentenced him to two and a half years in prison with the last 12 months suspended, as reported on 3 June 2023, and the partner was listed for trial.
