On 5 June 2018, a gunman dressed as a builder fired nine shots from a semi-automatic pistol at an early morning fitness class at Bray Boxing Club in Bray, Co Wicklow, killing 50-year-old man Bobby Messett and injuring 59-year-old man Pete Taylor and man Ian Britton. Gerard Cervi, a 36-year-old man from East Wall, Dublin 3, was arrested in September 2018 and charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder.
