On 11 November 2021, a vehicle driven by Hugh Ward, a 26-year-old man, continued at a dangerous speed after Gardaí activated the blue light at Station Road, Falcarragh, County Donegal, and overtook two vehicles on a solid white line. Gardaí photographed the car at Ward's home in Meenlaragh, and on 3 January 2022 a Garda recognised him as the driver who had failed to stop. Ward was charged with careless driving, driving without insurance, and driving without a driving licence. On 21 September 2022, Judge Éiteáin Cunningham at Falcarragh District Court disqualified Ward for two years for careless driving and imposed a consecutive two-year ban for driving without insurance, with fines of €200 and €300, while the no-licence charge was taken into account.
