  Four men believed to be members of an organised burglary gang were arrested on 20 August 2026 after gardaí stopped a silver 2006 Volvo S40 with false registration plates on the M50 and DMR West in a managed containment operation. The pursuit went through Blanchardstown and Castleknock before the car crashed in Chapelizod, where two suspects were caught, one tried to swim across the River Liffey, and a fourth was found after a search. John Cash, 25, Hugh Cash, 50, Luke Wall, 23, and Michael Moorehouse McCarthy, 23, were charged on 22 August in connection with burglaries in Dublin, Kildare, Laois and Kilkenny. All four appeared before a special sitting of Dublin District Court on Saturday evening and were granted bail by Judge Peter White subject to conditions including signing on, curfews, and no contact with each other.
