  On 12 December 2021, Garda Holly Lane, a woman aged 34, was alleged to have forcibly opened a colleague's locker at Store Street Garda station in Dublin while on duty, stealing a €70 cannabis exhibit and causing €30 in damage. She was found drunk in a changing room and had sent a picture of the drugs to her partner. Lane was arrested by appointment in June 2023, pleaded not guilty, and was found guilty by Judge John Hughes after a non-jury trial at Dublin District Court in March 2024. She was sentenced to nine months with the final three months suspended, conditional on two years' supervised probation and counselling for alcohol and drug addiction.
