Henry Carey, a 27-year-old man and former member of the Irish Defence Forces, pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to possessing an intimate image of an 18-year-old woman without her consent. The pair met through a Snapchat match and spent the night at Carey's home in Conroy Park, Kilcullen, Co Kildare, on 25 September 2023, where he photographed her while she was getting dressed. The image was found on his phone when he was arrested. Mr Justice Tony Hunt adjourned sentencing to February for a Probation Services report, indicating that community service would be more appropriate than a six-month custodial sentence.
