    A 49-year-old Somali man, Ismail Mustaph Hussan, was charged with the murder of 54-year-old Muhudin Osman Suleyman and the serious assault of 32-year-old Hassan Hussein Abedi following a stabbing at the IPAS centre at Ballymullen Barracks, Tralee, Co Kerry, around 5.20am on 31 October 2026. He was arrested at the scene that morning and charged on 1 November, when he appeared before a special sitting of Killarney District Court, made no reply to the charges, and was remanded in custody to appear at Tralee District Court via video link on 4 November. Gardaí are examining a line of enquiry that the stabbing followed a row over loud snoring in a shared sleeping space. All three men are believed to have been residents of the centre.
