Cases
latest first- Supreme Court remits Swedish man's challenge over €557,000 fraudulent email account scheme to High Court Fraud (proceeds of crime – fraudulent online email account scheme) · Co. Dublin
A fraudulent online email account scheme trading as Local Mart collected $651,000 (€557,000) over four days, primarily targeting US card holders, with the funds held in an Irish bank account in Dublin. Harry Zeman, a Swedish man and director of Swedish firm Routeback Media AB, was the subject of a Criminal Assets Bureau application to have the money declared proceeds of crime under the Proceeds of Crime Act 1996. The High Court issued a freezing order in 2011 and a final disposal order in 2022, and the Court of Appeal dismissed Zeman's appeal in 2022. In April 2025 a five-judge Supreme Court heard a further appeal and on 16 July 2025 allowed it unanimously, with one judge dissenting in part, remitting the case to the High Court for a limited hearing on genuinely new evidence.
