  • Man sentenced to 13 years for attempted murder in Dublin Attempted murder · Co. Dublin

    Darragh Quigley, a 26-year-old man, stabbed Gretta McCullough, a 64-year-old woman, from behind with a seven-inch knife in the neck at Chatham Row, Dublin 2, around 9.45pm on 16 November 2023, as she walked with her husband to see the Christmas lights. Quigley was arrested at his father's house the following day and later pleaded guilty to attempted murder. On 19 January 2026, Mr Justice Paul Burns at the Central Criminal Court sentenced him to 13 years in prison with the final year suspended for five years, backdated to 17 November 2023.
