  James Gilleran, a 70-year-old man, was a scout leader of the 117th Francis Street Scout Group in Dublin who was convicted of indecently assaulting three boys, Rory Patchell, Stephen Devlin and Greg Stafford, aged between 11 and 13, between 1983 and 1987. The abuse primarily involved inappropriate touching and took place at Whitefriar Street Church, the Scout Hall and Gilleran's family home in Co Longford. One victim recognised Gilleran on the Late Late Show in 2021 and contacted gardaí, after which the other two men also came forward. Gilleran was arrested in July 2022, pleaded guilty to five counts of indecent assault, and was sentenced to two years' imprisonment at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 13 May 2025.
