    Graham Whelan, a 39-year-old man, was found in possession of €1,200 in cash and a watch valued at €28,000 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, on 31 January 2019, and paid €2,140 in cash for a three-night stay knowing the money was the proceeds of criminal conduct. He pleaded guilty in July 2021 at the Special Criminal Court to participating in the actions of an organised crime group by laundering money and to possession of proceeds of crime. On 15 November 2021, Mr Justice Tony Hunt sentenced him to 18 months' imprisonment, with 18 months of a three-year headline sentence suspended for four years, and three months on each drug-possession charge to run concurrently.
