On 19 May 2024, an 18-year-old man was riding an e-scooter on the boardwalk beside the Liffey in Dublin city centre when Graham Kinsella, 21, a man, followed him on a second e-scooter, kicked him off at Liffey Street, and punched him several times after he fell onto construction railings. A 16-year-old boy, a co-accused, stabbed the teenager twice in the back with a knife, causing a punctured lung, and the victim was taken by ambulance to Mater Hospital, where he made a full recovery. Kinsella admitted assault causing harm and was sentenced on 14 May 2025 at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to two years' imprisonment with the final six months suspended on strict conditions. The 16-year-old boy, charged with assault causing harm and production of a knife, was remanded on bail at a February 2025 preliminary hearing at Dublin Children's Court and is to appear in the Circuit Court after a book of evidence is served in March.
