Gardaí attached to the Dublin Crime Response Team seized a Czech-made Skorpion submachine gun, a silencer and ammunition during a search in Clondalkin, Dublin 22, on 15 May 2024. Glen Dempsey, 42, a father of five, and a woman in her 30s were arrested in relation to possession of firearms; the woman was released without charge. Dempsey was charged with unlawful possession of the firearm, silencer and ammunition. He pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court on 3 April 2025 and was sent for sentencing to Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, listed on 9 May 2025.
