latest first- Man sentenced to two years for sexual assault in Dublin Sexual assault · Co. Dublin
In the early hours of 7 February 2018, Gheorghe Morar, a 36-year-old man, met an 18-year-old woman in a Dublin nightclub and later drove her to Dollymount Strand before taking her to her city-centre hotel, where she asked staff to call gardaí. There was no evidence her drink had been spiked or that she was drugged. Morar was charged with sexual assault, initially denied the offence, and later pleaded guilty on the basis of recklessness. In December 2021, a judge at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court sentenced him to two years, backdated to 15 May 2020 following his extradition from Romania.
