On 16 June 2019 at about 2.13am, Gerry O'Driscoll, of Newry, Co Down, assaulted two women in their twenties in Limerick city, first on Ellen Street and then on Robert Street. A European arrest warrant was issued, and he presented himself to the PSNI in Newry before being transferred to gardaí in Dundalk. He pleaded guilty to two assaults causing harm at Limerick Circuit Court. In August 2023 Judge Tom O'Donnell imposed three-year suspended sentences on each assault and directed €10,000 to be paid to each victim within a month.
